The Optio E40 makes it easier than ever to enjoy high-resolution pictures with such new features as Face Recognition is handy for taking shots of people, Shake Reduction which reduces the effects of camera shake and subject blurring.

The Face Recognition AF & AE function allows you to take beautiful pictures of people easily by letting the camera determine the focus and exposure. The "Face Recognition AF & AE" function automatically detects and focuses on faces, regardless of where the people appear in the frame. In addition, the exposure settings are automatically set so that the areas with faces are not darkened even if there is backlighting.

Shake reduction reduces camera shakes and blurring of the subject when taking photographs. The sensitivity is adjusted automatically, to as high as ISO1000, to match the brightness of the subjects. This enables photography with fast shutter speeds, and images where less blurs is produced.

The Optio E40 also incorporates many of the usual features that you would expect from a quality camera brand that is Pentax.  These include; a quality 3x optical zoom lens, 8.1 effective mega pixels, movie with sound recording as well as many, many more.
